Brand New Start

4 Apr

It’s all change for me Miss M in the coming weeks, in fact next week I am starting a new job, which I find is an excellent excuse to have a bit of a revamp of the wardrobe.  Also I’m also planning to move house in the next couple of months I have started the mammoth task of rigorously sorting through the stuff I have been accumulating over the last 5 years I’ve been in my current place in Wanstead, East London. I have been very strict with myself and am slowly getting rid of all the clothes and shoes that either I don’t and never will get round to wearing or are just a bit knackered looking.

Unfortunately this de-cluttering has tempted me to buy new shiny things to replace some of the things I’m throwing out due to them falling apart and being unrepairable. So far I’ve gotten myself a lovely new Black Pencil Skirt from Collectif

Baby Lou Pencil Skirt from Collectif

Also from Collectif really lovely embroidered shirt

Dora Pistol Shirt from Collectif

Then there was the shoes…I had a pair of lovely espadrille wedge sandals which I had worn to pieces and of course had to replace with these super cute pair from ASOS

The next victims of my shoe de-clutter attack was a few pairs of tired old flats and pumps which have been beautifully replaced with these super cute pair from one of my favourite Shoe Brands Miss L Fire

Day Tripper Black & White from Miss L Fire

So far I think I’ve managed to put a hold on shopping for shiny new things, but I still have the urge to update my wardrobe with some lovely new items to wear when I start my new job! I currently have my eye on these pretties….

HOWKAPOW

22 Feb

My new favourite online shop of the week is HOWKAPOW, set up by husband and wife team Cat and Rog to showcase and promote crafty brilliance of independent designers and illustrators.

What with exciting new living arrangements happening soon all I can think about is new homewares to buy (I probably don’t need them at all, but that does not stop me looking)

Once upon a time in Oz…part 2

17 Feb

After finishing my time at Nicola Finetti I changed states to the lovely New South Wales and the fantastic city of Melbourne (I want to go there again so soon, it really is the most brilliant city!). I ended up living in the trendy / artsy area of town called Fitzroy very close to the uber cool Brunswick Street… it’s a bit like Shoreditch I should think…maybe a bit less grubby!

I did pick this area carefully as my next placement a couture shoe designer called Preston Zly was based there, so all I had to do was drag myself outta bed and walk down the street and spend all day helping to make shoes! Brilliant! As a thankyou I got a beautiful pair of shoes made for me!

Here’s a couple of my favorites from their Spring Summer 2012 Collection called Oceania

These are from their AW11 collection called Empire, I had to sneak them in because they are just so gorgeous!

SHOE LUST !

oh Miss L Fire and you sneaky peak preview of your Spring Summer 2012 collection… naughty!

Once upon a time in Oz….

16 Feb

Whilst I was at University (which seems many MANY years ago now) I had the amazing opportunity to spend an entire year doing work experience abroad, the other people on my course went all over the world from New Zealand to Paris to Germany, I ended up in Australia. I love it down under, I’ve got a lot of relatives out there and had been out there to see them before, so I took this excuse to get our there again.

I had 3 different work placements whilst I was out there and I’ve always kept an eye on what they have been up too since I finished my work placements and thought it’d be nice to see what they were doing this season. The first designer I worked with was Nicola Finetti in Sydney

The gorgeous garments produced by this Italian born designer are loved by the Australian and International Stars, even my idol Dita Von Teese. I love the use of lace with bright colours in his Fall 2012 collection.

Decadent PARIS – BOMBAY

12 Feb

I’ve always been overwhelmed with the talent of Karl Lagerfeld st CHANEL, I am a little speechless after seeing the 2012 Meitiers D’Art Collection PARIS – BOMBAY a sumptuous collection inspired by Bombay. If I were a millionaire I’d be buying a few pieces for my friend Rohini’s wedding in Bombay in November. Instead it will just have to be my inspiration!

It was shown at the Grand Palais and decked out like a grand magical Indian Palace  throwing a decadent banquet! Gorgeous!

Also have a look at this video showing the amazing amount of work that went into the embellishments and jewellry used in this show, it’s really quite something.

Here’s a few stills of my favourite looks

I WANT!

OH how much I love everything on the Collectif website, my current Lust item is the Loretta Playsuit….how freaking cute is this!

Jewellery Lust…

7 Feb

I am so in LOVE with the Spring Summer 2012 collection from Tatty Devine…it’s all inspired by Meixco and in particular one of my favourite artists Frida Kahlo. I think the bright summery colours are just fantastic!

PRADA Spring / Summer 2012

2 Feb

I just love, love LOVE the Spring Summer 2012 Prada Collection. It’s all lots of lovely retro styling with awesome Americana / Rockabilly motifs…featuring prints of Cadillac’s racing around and flames creeping up from skirt hems, this then continued along with motifs of cherries, dice and lips splashed all over the accessories **SIGH**

I’m attempting to get my butt back into dress making this year and am currently working on a mini collection (it’s my EPIC CHALLENGE 2012) of outfits along the similar lines of this collection. The styling will also have 50′s/60′d vibe but it’s going to be an entirely black range with similar motifs, such as flames and cherries being used but either hand painted or embroidered onto the garments with super bright / neon colours. I’ll post more about this when I’ve got a bit more than a few scribblings in a sketch book to show off.

Anyway back to Prada, just feast your eyes on some of their advertising campaign, get a load of the frankly swoon-worthy flaming heels!
